About Edris Ali
Edris Ali is an assistant professor of History at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Trishal, Mymensingh, Bangladesh. Who completed Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in History from the University of Dhaka, securing the second position in both. Edris Ali completed his M.Phil on “The Security System in East Bengal under the Framework of Pakistan (1947-1971)” under the supervision of Professor Dr. Mesbah Kamal. With a strong academic background and a deep passion for historical research, he dedicated his work to study the social, cultural, and ethnic histories of Bangladesh.
Since his appointment as an assistant professor of History at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University on March 19, 2025, he has been actively engaged in teaching and historical research. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he serves as the CEO of Coastal Aid Organisation. He is also a life member of esteemed organizations such as the Bangladesh Itihas Academy, Bangladesh Itihas Sammilani, Bangladesh Itihas Samiti, Itihas Parishad, and Asiatic Society of Bangladesh.
Edris Ali has research interests span a wide range of historical topics, including Bangladesh studies, the Liberation War of Bangladesh, social and cultural history, ethnicity, gender history, and the history and biodiversity of Sundarbans . Much of his work focuses on marginalized communities and their struggles, aiming to bring their histories into the academic discourse.
Apart these he has published extensively in reputed academic journals. Some of his notable works include “Sundarban Anchaler Nrigosthi Munda Samprodayer Khaddo Sangoskriti” (2023), “Kishor Biplobi Anwar Hossen” (2024), and “Munda, Mahato o Choudalider Shiksha Sangram” (2024).
Beyond research, he actively participate in national conferences, workshops, and special lectures. Edris Ali committed to professional development and has completed several training programs, including the Enhanced Continuous Professional Development course at the National University, Gazipur, and a Training of Trainers (ToT) on Pedagogy under the College Education Development Project (CEDP) at the Bangladesh Institute of Administrative Management (BIAM). His passion lies in uncovering untold histories and contributing to a deeper understanding of Bangladesh’s past and present.
